今回は2016年に発表された第４次産業革命に関する以下の世界経済フォーラムの記事をもとに英語でそのインパクトについて議論します。

第４次産業革命がもたらす最大の懸念の一つはこれからの雇用の在り方とそれに対応した教育改革でしょう。
「the revolution could yield greater inequality, particularly in its potential to disrupt labor markets. As automation substitutes for labor across the entire economy, the net displacement of workers by machines might exacerbate the gap between returns to capital and returns to labor. On the other hand, it is also possible that the displacement of workers by technology will, in aggregate, result in a net increase in safe and rewarding jobs.」
「21 Lessons」のなかでハラリが述べた現在の教育に関する以下の問題点は多くの研究者や専門家に共有されています。
情報を詰め込むだけの教育は無意味なのに、いまだに多くの学校のシステムは変わらない。今や、アクセスできる情報は無数にあり、教師が生徒に更に情報を与える行為は害悪である。必要なのは情報の意味を理解したり、重要なものとそうでないものを見分ける能力（337-338P）
The New Educationの著者が提唱した「未来の教育の4つのC」（21Lessons: 339頁） Critical Thinking（批判的思考）、 Communication、 Collaboration (協働）、 Creativity（創造性） はこれからの教育を考える上でのキーワードです。

提言に共通するのは「学校は専門的な技能に重点を置かず、汎用性のある生活技能を重視するべきだ」との主張です。この提言はこれまでの職業教育の概念を覆すようなものだと思います。経団連や文部科学省などはこれまで「役に立たない」大学の人文系・社会科学系の学問領域を縮小する方向に動いてきました。しかし、今や「すぐに役立つ」知識やスキルは変化の激しい未来においてはすぐに陳腐になる可能性が高く、ますます基礎的な「思考力」「伝える力」こそが重要になってきています。
